Coming to Canada from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (Ircam-CNRS, France), Dr. McAdams joined McGill University's Schulich School of Music in October of this year. He has recently been awarded a Canada Research Chair in Music Perception and Cognition, as well as a Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Infrastructure grant.
Dr. McAdams' main research interests are multimodal scene analysis, musical timbre perception, psychomechanics and sound source perception, as well as cognitive dynamics of musical listening. He holds a Ph.D. in Hearing and Speech Sciences (Stanford University), H.D.R. (D.Sc.) in Cognitive Psychology (Université René Descartes/Paris 5), and a B.Sc. in Psychology (McGill University).
